MacHeads

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I really enjoy using my mac. I have had it since June of last year and I am happy to say that I have no regrets. Apparently there are a group of people who are making a documentary who really like their Macs as well.

The world in 2108

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Recently there was a very interesting article in the New York Times that asked a group of New Yorkers to wonder what life will be like in 2108 just as New Yorkers had guessed about 2008 in 1908. There has been tremendous progress from 1808 to 1908 to 2008. I wonder what is in store. :-)

For those of you who love coffee this post should help you visualize all the possible espresso combinations. It is a very good illustration.

Event log blog published a great article on how to automate shutting down your workstation to help in the efforts to go green.

New Hampshire

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Today I ventured out a little bit. I made it as far as Kittery, Maine which is near Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I started out simply enjoying the fall colors and the mountains, which I am not accustom to in flat Illinois. I eventually stopped my drive in Manchester, New Hampshire. I hung out in town for a while and went to a local coffee shop.

After a strong internal pull to see the ocean, I ended up driving all the way to Maine. I was able to get quite a few photos, although not as many as I would have liked. There wasn’t too many good areas to stop. Well, it is probably not a good idea to trespass on peoples property when there are no licensing fees to own a shotgun or rifle and the state motto is “Live free or Die!”

I will be posting photos tomorrow on Daily Blur and on Flickr hopefully tomorrow. It has really been hit or miss with a wifi connection for me.

Vermont

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

For the next week or so I will be on vacation. Unlike most bloggers who announce they are taking time off and really do, I am stating this to indicate that I am going to publish more frequently. Over the last year or two I am sad to admit I haven’t really had much time to put effort into the becoming project. It generally takes a week vacation to give me time to rework things. Most of you know that I have been placing most of my free time on Daily Blur and wedding stuff. If you are ever anxiously awaiting new content I suggest you take a look at my photoblog.

Currently I am sitting in a coffee shop in Keene, New Hampshire. I will be staying in the lovely town of Brattleboro, Vermont. I don’t have too much planned this weekend with the exception of getting some projects done, and heading over to Sheldon Brown’s bike shop in Massachusetts.

End of summer

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Wow! This summer has really flown by! I almost can’t believe it. People are going back to school already and Labor day is already next weekend. It really feels like it just got started.

I have been secretly ashamed at the lack posts on this site this summer. It looks like I am averaging about 1 post a month. Hopefully that will change as the fall draws near. With the addition of Dailyblur.com to my site list, the little time I have for posting is directed there.

This weekend we are off to Denver for a friends wedding. It will be nice, neither of us have been there before and I am really looking forward to getting some great shots of a new city.

Last weekend I was walking down Clark street and I happened to see a Lomo Fisheye toy camera on display and I ended up buying it. It is great because it was really affordable and takes an extreme wide angle view of the world.

Well that is about all for now. I hope everyone enjoys what summer we have left.

Announcement

I have been pretty happy the last few weeks. I recently asked Joellen to marry me and she said…YES! Since then we have been walking on clouds. I enjoyed a very nice week-long vacation up in Wisconsin. Now I am back to work and I am involved in a project that I am really enjoying. And Joellen said YES!

Joellen you are the best.

Welcome to the club

As of last night I now own a brand new Macbook! I am very excited about finally making the “switch” and learning my way around a new system. I already feel like my life as a web developer is going to be easier.

When I got home and looked at my new computer, my girlfriend’s new nano, my IPod, and the sudden IPhone commercial on the TV I realize that I have been consumed. Even as I am writing this there is another IPhone commercial on and it really seems like it is only a matter of time before it consumes everyone else. Or maybe it already has…
